Review
I found this book to be a total joy to read. The pictures went very well with the story and was very entertaining. I actually felt bad for Terry in the beginning because everyone seemed to be so busy and no one had time to play with him. However in the end everything seemed to work out just perfectly.
As a mother I really like that the author use really easy words that made early readers want to help their parents read the story. A lot of authors say that their books are suitable for self-read, but then use some words that are more leveled at a higher group of readers than the targeted age. Whereas our author nailed the age and reader level perfectly. Such a well done book.

I honestly had a great time with my daughter creating an Indian drum and Dream Catcher with our Surprise Ride. We really loved our bonding time. I think in the end that is more what parents who buy these kits will be looking for.
Our Indian theme kit came with a snack of cracked corn which was actually rather good. It included a North American Indian activity book which that actually had a few facts about Indians in it. My daughter was very excited over the slide whistle and the worry stone. I honestly thought she’d like the Dance Rattle more.
This kit would be great for homeschool parents or parents that have a busy lifestyle and don’t have much time on their hands. It actually was a fun learning time.
My overall rating on the kit itself would be a 3 out of 5. Don’t get me wrong its super for those parents that are on the go looking a fast learning fix or a bonding time activity.
- I had some issues with the price. I love that they include all these extras, but I rather it be an extra craft instead of another toy to be broken days later.
-The crafts that they did include…PLEASE….extra tape/glue. The drum didn’t stick and tears started to fall. Luckily, mom had foam glue.
- Instructions meant for a 6-11 year old child. The drum instructions spot on. The Dream Catcher that was fun for the 6 year old.
Remember, this was only one Surprise Ride, they come up with different adventures every month. My adventure may not have had all the bugs worked fully out, but isn’t that what adventures are for. Making those steps and following through?

If you look above my little Surprise Rider was so proud of her Dream Catcher she took it to school and entered it for the artist of the month.

About Surprise Ride

OUR STORY

The idea for Surprise Ride came when we, sisters and aunts of two active and curious boys, struggled to find unique gifts that would add value to our nephews’ lives. Having experienced tremendous economic hardship during our own childhood, we remembered a simpler time when what we enjoyed most as kids was getting immersed in activities with siblings and parents.
We were fortunate to have a dad who was an artist by profession and facilitated DIY activities. He always encouraged us to bring our imaginations to life. Those projects shaped who we are and our view of the world. We want to help busy parents give their kids that same opportunity to evolve through play.
Surprise Ride was born from the desire to have a lasting impact on the lives of children, beyond the latest toy or video game.
